The Open Blues programme will train weekly between late-May and late-August which will incorporate; on-water sessions, strength and conditioning sessions, and competing at the RNZ Winter Series Regattas, giving athletes the opportunity to build upon rowing fundamentals, learn new high-level skills and race against current NZ age-group athletes.
Athletes will have the opportunity to train out of their local club with ARA appointed coaches.
Another purpose of this programme is to lead into the ARA / RNZ Interprovincial Campaign – further details to be advised shortly.
The maximum cost for this programme will be $250, pending funding from RNZ and other sources – the aim is to make the athlete cost as low as possible. This contributes towards coaching, plant use, strength & conditioning, gear as well as costs associated with attending RNZ Winter Series regattas.
