ARA Coach Education Workshops 2025
We’re thrilled to announce a series of three Coach Education Workshops led by the highly experienced Justin Evans, who is Head of Athletic Performance at RNZ and has been involved with HPSNZ across multiple sports and Olympic cycles.
These workshops are designed to provide invaluable upskilling opportunities, foster knowledge sharing, and create a platform for Auckland coaches, of all levels, to build their expertise. The workshops are free for Auckland coaches and will include light refreshments.
All Auckland coaches, new and established, managers, administrators and volunteers welcome!
Workshop 1 – “Powering Performance: Understanding Energy Systems in Rowing Training”
Explore the aerobic and anaerobic energy systems in rowing and how to structure training for optimal adaptation and performance.
Date: Saturday, 14th June, 2025
Time: 2:00 PM start.
Venue: St George’s Rowing Club

Workshop 2 – “Building Champions: The Art and Science of Periodisation in Rowing”
Learn how to design an effective periodised training plan that balances intensity, volume, and recovery for peak performance.

Workshop 3 – “Data-Driven Success: Athlete Monitoring and Adaptive Coaching”
Discover tools and strategies for tracking athlete progress, interpreting performance data, and adjusting training plans accordingly.
