Open Blues Programme 2023

Key Dates –

RNZ Winter Series #2: Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th June 2023

RNZ Winter Series #3: Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th July 2023

The Open Blues programme is for both Pathway athletes and aspiring pathway athletes (year 13 and over) who are looking to further their development in a competitive environment or looking to progress their rowing career and gain selection onto the National Pathway and NZ representative squads.

The Open Blues programme will train weekly between late-May and late-August which will incorporate; on-water sessions, strength and conditioning sessions, and competing at the RNZ Winter Series Regattas, giving athletes the opportunity to build upon rowing fundamentals, learn new high-level skills and race against current NZ age-group athletes.

Athletes will have the opportunity to train out of their local club with ARA appointed coaches.

Another purpose of this programme is to lead into the ARA / RNZ Interprovincial Campaign – further details to be advised shortly.

The maximum cost for this programme will be $250, pending funding from RNZ and other sources – the aim is to make the athlete cost as low as possible. This contributes towards coaching, plant use, strength & conditioning, gear as well as costs associated with attending RNZ Winter Series regattas.

RNZ Winter Series dates the Open Blues will compete at:
Series #2: 17th & 18th June 2023

Series #3: 8th & 9th July 2023
